Terry Bird taught me Latin at school. I never realised he wrote this software himself - top marks! I can thoroughly recommend this set of programs. An illustration of its effectiveness: I ignored strong advice, and didn't memorise or even read the required passage from the Aeneid in preparation for my GCSE Latin exam. However, because of the structured practice that this program had offered (combined with Mr Bird's excellent teaching, of course) with analysing and translating Latin, I managed to translate the passage on the fly using the skills it teaches. I received grade A - thank you Mr Bird! (PS I cannot recommend this as a way of approaching the GCSE Latin exam - it was not an enjoyable experience!) Terry Bird is an excellent teacher of Latin, Greek and also Classical Civilisations (the A Level I most wished I had done, having sat in on several of the lessons just to hear Mr Bird talking about the ancient world). This software teaches rigour and after a while it seems second
nature to break the word down and identify case, gender, tense and so on - I can still remember the verb endings like "-o/-m, -s, -t, -mus, -tis, -nt" this long after (as well as most of the first chapter of Ecce Romani verbatim). This software is wholeheartedly recommended for all secondary school students of Latin. Tom Dolphin - CRGS 1989-1996 Dear Terry, I am a regular user of your 'Latin GCSE' program. I greatly enjoy having this brilliant utility to utilise during school and home hours. I find it assists my learning to a level unachievable by simply reading, as it provides a way to have our Latin writing tested rather than just clicking on icons as found on the Cambridge Latin Course website. Once again, many thanks for this program! Regards Michael Keefe - Bristol Grammar School
